Artist Video: Lee Chun-yi
January 13, 2021

Happy New Year!  We hope you are staying safe and healthy.

As we celebrate the gallery’s 40th anniversary, we would like to kick-start our year-long celebration with a series of artist videos, produced in conjunction with our current group exhibition Brushless at Alisan Aberdeen.  This series sheds light on the artists' innovative creations to push the boundaries of the classical practice of ink painting and the inspiration behind their works.

For the first video, we would like to present artist Lee Chun-yi, whose approach departs from the conventional use of brushes by employing Chinese seals and ink rubbings on paper to form semi-photographic images.

This group exhibition features four internationally acclaimed artists whose practices have revolutionized Chinese ink painting with the use of their various tools and media. The exhibition remains open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 10am to 6pm at Alisan Aberdeen till Feb 27th. If you would like to see the artwork in person, please feel free to drop by.
