Whitestone Gallery

Who We Are

Founded in the heart of Tokyo, in 1967, Whitestone Gallery has been a pioneer in the Japanese art scene. Our purpose is to create more dialogues between art and regions. In 2012, we opened the Karuizawa New Art Museum, as a rare example of private museums. Since 2015, we expanded to Hong Kong and opened two gallery spaces. In 2017, we set up our operations in Taipei. In Spring 2018, we relocated our two spaces in Hong Kong to the two-floored exhibition spaces consisting of both modern and contemporary art sections in “H Queen’s”, where worldwide leading galleries are gathered.

What We Do

Whitestone Gallery’s mission is to introduce Japanese prominent talents in a worldwide context and simultaneously opening a possible new approach to the conventional Japanese art market. We are specialized in Japanese post-war art and Gutai art. We represent prominent Gutai artists such as Tsuyoshi Maekawa and Shuji Mukai. In addition, we are promoting contemporary and young artists, such as Miwa Komatsu, Ahii Choi, and Philip Colbert.
